Distinguished Leadership Medals


Selection for this honor is based on completion of one or more of the Center for Leadership Development's program, outstanding demonstrated leadership in campus or community organizations and a sound grade point average.

Students selected for this honor will receive a leadership medallion to be worn at graduation.

Eligibility and Selection
Students must complete one or the following in order to be considered:

  • Emerging Leaders
  • Leadership Fellows
  • The LeaderShape Institute
  • Master's Level Certification in PILOT
  • Leadership Learning Community

Additional criteria include:

  • Demonstrated leadership/involvement in campus organizations or leadership positions
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Good standing with the University

Selection is made by the staff in the Center for Leadership Development.


Application Process
During the semester you are scheduled to graduate, contact the Center for Leadership Development no later than October 1st for the fall semester, March 1st for the Spring and Summer semesters to indicate your impending graduation.

In addition to a standard application which indicates your campus involvement and leadership experiences, you are required to submit a personal statement which reflects how your leadership education experience(s) has helped you as a leader. This statement is limited to 500 words and must be typed.

References are also required as part of this process and forms are included with the application. This recommendation should come from someone who has had the opportunity to observe you in a leadership role.

All applicants will be notified of their status in the selection process.
