Curtis Johnson Memorial Scholarship


This $1000 scholarship was established in honor of former UNC Charlotte student Curtis E. Johnson who died as a result of a car accident in May 2004. Selection for this scholarship is based on the student’s involvement in one or more of the opportunities of importance to Curtis.

Criteria and Application

The criteria for application are as follows:

1. Participation in or currently participating in one or more of the following student leadership roles at UNC Charlotte:

  • Leadership Fellows
  • Resident Assistant
  • Student Court
  • Conference Assistant

2. Completion of at least 60 hours of coursework at the time of application.

3. Minimum GPA of 2.5.

4. Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and enrolled for undergraduate classes in the fall semester following the award of the scholarship.

5. Good standing with the university.

In addition to completion of the scholarship application, candidates must write a 500 word statement on the value of their student involvement at UNC Charlotte. Candidates should also include a letter of support from a faculty or staff member at UNC Charlotte.

Applications are available during the Spring Semester. The $1000 award will be given at the Center for Leadership Development Banquet in April.
