Curtis Johnson Memorial Scholarship


This $1000 scholarship was established in honor of former UNC Charlotte student Curtis E. Johnson who died as a result of a car accident in May 2004. Selection for this scholarship is based on the student’s involvement in one or more of the opportunities of importance to Curtis.

Criteria and Application

The criteria for application are as follows:

1. Participation in or currently participating in one or more of the following student leadership roles at UNC Charlotte:

  • Leadership Fellows
  • Resident Assistant
  • Student Court
  • Conference Assistant

2. Completion of at least 60 hours of coursework at the time of application.

3. Minimum GPA of 2.5.


Distinguished Leadership Medals


Selection for this honor is based on completion of one or more of the Center for Leadership Development's program, outstanding demonstrated leadership in campus or community organizations and a sound grade point average.

Students selected for this honor will receive a leadership medallion to be worn at graduation.

Students must complete one or the following in order to be considered:

  • Emerging Leaders
  • Leadership Fellows
  • The LeaderShape Institute
  • Master's Level Certification in PILOT
  • Leadership Learning Community

Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities


Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities is a national program recognizing college students for outstanding leadership, scholarship and service.

Each fall outstanding students, nominated by UNC Charlotte faculty and staff, are invited to submit applications for this recognition opportunity. Applications are screened and selection is made by staff in the Center for Leadership Development.
